I decide to make an early start packing my suitcases because it is clear
we will be leaving with a whole lot more that what we came with. It looks
like everything is going to fit in the two suitcases, but it will weigh
much more that the allowed 90 pounds. Farhad has assured me that he knows
‘a man’ who will come with us when I leave, to help me to
get the excess weight on the plane for free. I put all the dried herbs
from Kerman in a large bag that I plan to take as carry-on. It is very
light now but I see Mamy put extra things in it when I am not watching;
a bag of nuts, a kilo of pistachios, a package of coffee...
Keyvan’s sister Shahin and her family have invited us for dinner.
Once again we sit on chairs arranged along the walls of the living room,
once again we drink tea with cookies, peel fruit and little cucumbers
with a little knife. Once again we are encouraged to eat large amounts
of delicious food. I am going to miss this!
